Addabbo Helps register voters

City Councilman Joseph Addabbo Jr., center in a suit, a candidate in the race for the 15th Senate District seat, has worked with Desis Vote — a branch of the South Asian Women’s Initiative — over the last several weekends to register voters in Ozone Park and Richmond Hill. As of last week, they registered more than 300 new voters, most of whom are members of the South Asian community.

“In the Democratic system, every vote counts, but too often we fail to make our voices heard,” Addabbo said. “We need to get as many people involved in the process as possible so that our communities can get the representation they deserve. The level of excitement and participation we’ve been seeing is absolutely amazing.”

SAWI is an organization devoted to increasing awareness and participation in the democratic process.
